CODE OF ETHICS AND CONDUCT:

  • Provide an environment that ensures safe and effective training.
  • Do not train clients without appropriate review of health history form and physician release (as needed).
  • Do not diagnose or treat illnesses and/or injuries but refer clients to more qualified health or medical professionals when appropriate.
  • Establish and maintain clear professional boundaries with both clients and colleagues.
  • Maintain the highest level of professional appearance, hygiene, behavior, and communication while in the capacity and function as a personal trainer.
  • Maintain current and accurate records for each client.
  • Maintain current liability insurance.
  • Maintain accurate financial tax records for no less than 3 years.
  • Do not engage in deceptive, misleading, sexually explicit, and profane marketing practices.
  • Treat all clients with equal respect and service.
  • Maintain current CPR and AED certifications and knowledge of first-aid services.
  • Comply with all applicable federal, state and local business operating laws.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all client personal information.

SCOPE OF PRACTICE:

The BDU Personal Trainer is a professional ideally suited to work with individuals who are either apparently healthy or have been cleared by a physician to engage in exercise. 

BDU trainers develop individualized exercise programs and nutrition plans based on client goals, health history information, and fitness assessments. Exercise programming is designed to be safe, and effective, based on clinical evidence as well as valid exercise science databases. 

BDU trainers provide their client’s guidance on proper exercise performance, lifestyle behavior modifications, effective nutrition planning and supplementation use according to established regulatory and scientific standards. BDU trainers do not diagnose or treat pre-existing clinical conditions, areas of pain or disease, and will always refer clients with such needs to an appropriate health care professional.
